History

Canadian Utility Construction Limited Partnership (CUC) provides quality underground construction services to utility companies throughout Western Canada. CUC specializes in a full range of construction and maintenance services for the Natural Gas Distribution and Transmission industry. Its complete range of underground construction services includes natural gas distribution and transmission, stations, and facilities, underground electrical, and telecommunications.

Since its early beginnings, CUC’s primary focus has always been to provide the safest, best quality service for their customers, and to build and maintain strong customer relationships through service excellence.

In 1991, CUC landed their first long-term contract in Vancouver Island, British Columbia with Centra Gas (now FortisBC). CUC continues to provide services to FortisBC today and has since expanded nation-wide to provide services to a number of utilities throughout the country, including PNG, Atco, AltaGas, Enmax, Telus, Manitoba Hydro, and Sask Energy.

In January 2015, CUC continued to expand, both their service offerings and as a company, by becoming a Quanta Services company. Quanta is an integrated, international network of respected companies that construct transmission and distribution facilities for the electrical, petroleum, natural gas, and telecom industries.

Through tremendous growth and change over the first 30 years of operation, CUC continues to provide incredible stability and continuity to their employees and customers. The company credits its growth and success to its dedicated employees who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the company’s core values.

CUC’s latest chapters prove to be exciting times as they look forward to taking on newer, larger, and more complex projects utilizing the specialized resources of their Quanta sister companies.
